I did touch base with a couple of requesters and professors and they said there are grant and loan issues and backlogs this year so they aren't running things the same way they usually do. Another requester was on twitter asking for donations so he could pay a higher wage for his crowdsourcing. (crowdfunding crowdsourcing!)
