there's a facebook group for a group of certified storm chasers and meteorologists out of Oklahoma and North Central Texas that a lot of people have joined so I've been watching and basically laughing at all my fellow Texans who are acting like we're all gonna die with the weather that's come in and continuing to roll in (possible snow overnight and temps won't be above freezing until next week). It's funny but sad all at the same time.

I won't be driving because it's going to be mostly ice on the roads rather than snow and that's bad enough but there are a lot of Northerners and Midwesterners who swear they can drive on the stuff. Problem is twofold:
1. it's not snow. it's ice and in parts it's black ice. quite a difference.
2. while they may know how to control cars on ice and snow, there are quite a few native north texans who weren't old enough to drive the last time we had temps this cold and such a strong possibility of ice and snow.
