Yah, that is crazy, and thank you for the explanation.We are used to them being a strong possibility during the summer months because of high demand (A/C, etc) but this is not something we've seen in winter in Texas. Everyone has to remember just how massive a state Texas is and a usual Winter day has temperatures ranging from the 30s in the Panhandle to 80s or higher on the southern border so demand is not crazy high. Instead, we have all 254 counties dealing with record breaking cold temperatures for the last several days and continuing through the end of this week, infrastructure that was not built to withstand these conditions (reports of frozen wind turbines have been coming in) and a whole helluvalot of people whose first thought is to crank the heat up as high as possible whether they're on gas or electricity especially with so many people working from home and schools in virtual mode today and through the rest of the week. I am 46 years old and a native Texan. I have never seen this in my lifetime. Hopefully after the end of this week I'll never see it again.
