my daughter's senior class raised 14K for a trip to Mexico that is, obviously, not happening.

The school is proposing they donate that money to the Junior class because wouldn't that be 'nice'.....let's not mention the hundreds of hours my daughter spent cooking, working a monthly charity BINGO, running a yard sale, standing outside a walmart with raffle tickets (five hours, she got sunburned) and all the other awful chores (there were more! A lot more)....

I mean it's bad enough she doesn't get her senior trip. The proposal on the table right now is they spend the day at a teachers cottage by a lake and then gift the money to the school for the juniors so they can go away.

How 'bout they divide the money up between the seniors, since--oh, I don know......because it's their money. Then they can each spend it as they please. Because--oh, I don know....because it's their money. Let the next class earn their own money( because it's a learning task--work for what you want)........the whole idea of passing it to the next class sounds like some people want their kids to get a free ride....or maybe even a better trip.

If I'm understanding this, the money was earned by the senior class( who are already or nearly adults), thus making the money the property of the class, not the parents. It is up to the class to decide what to do with their earnings...and adding it to college funds sounds reasonable. The juniors are responsible for their own fundraising. That is the basic object of the whole exercise.
And not to put a damper on it, 14K is a bunch of cash. Who has control of it?

I hear all the youths nowdays are putting it in bitcoin. sounds like a proper solution to me to split the $14K equally among the participating seniors, invest it in bitcoin, and someday your daughter can retire early on the profits.
