they really only heat the room they are in - . In our house, they DO heat the floor above (just the room above) - that's where my daughter sleeps. Otherwise, the heat does not travel to the front of the house - really. There used to be someone on here who heats her whole house with wood. But she has an industrial woodstove (it's out in her barn). At night, they put in logs - that take all night to burn. I also know someone here in town that heats exclusively with her woodstove. She has hers in the cellar and there are vents (?) to circulate it in the house.I will look into it. I have the upstairs closed for the winter because my kids are small and we don't use it yet. But the heat has a hard time getting to the bedroom. I have a box fan trying to help circulate but so far it only heats the living room up to a temperature you can stand. I think I'll look into an electric heater for the bedroom, but something that is more energy friendly. My power bills were out of this world last year and I can't go through that mess again.
My little jotul can't do any of that. It's really just to add to the heat - and to help out daughter (her space is insulated, but not heated). The stove makes it warm for her
