I started turking again a couple weeks and this is my first time mturking since the start of the pandemic. I used to be able to easily make $20-$40 spending a half day just doing surveys and easy stuff like that. It seems like there's a lot less work than before. Are there just too many of us looking for work now? I'm having a hard time getting even half as many HITs as I used to.

It's been pretty dismal lately. I hear a lot of complaints from others and I've noticed it myself.

Yeah, it's harder than before, that's for sure. I remember I used to always be able to count on at least $30/day...and $40 and $50 weren't that unusual. Yesterday and the day before were a little busier than today, at least for me. But it feels like it's slowed down again today.

I think any time you step away and come back, there's an adjustment period as you find new requesters and pick up quals.

I think any time you step away and come back, there's an adjustment period as you find new requesters and pick up quals.

I'm making the same (daily, weekly, monthly) that I've made for the past three years. But the general consensus, historically, has always been "mtruk is dead."

I've never really gotten quals or done batch work, though. Due to a serious chronic illness it's hard for me to concentrate on batch work, but I can answer surveys just fine. Seems like there's less work for people like me.

July 15th-August 31-I expected it to be bad, but this summer slump is worse than ever, is mturk closing down?

September 10-October 15th-This should be back to normal but is worse than ever, either school projects havent started or mturk is closing down

October 15th-November 15th-Too many new turkers

November 16th-30 Thanksgiving lull

December 1st to December 20th-Too many new turkers, too many general turkers due to holidays

December 21st to 31st-Christmas and New years slowdown

When mturk raised its rates, a lot of requestors moved to their own platform(crowdsource, another crowd something requestor, the guy that had us caption porn videos, a lot of Google hits (hi Sergey!) Couple that with more workers and yeah, the pool dries up. My only $100 days now are generally when a closed qual requestor drops some hits. But that's irregular - most places with regular work go off-platform. The x8 video review hits we were talking about earlier is a perfect example - they had the qual up on mturk and were gonna run the hits thru a bonus system, but realized it was gonna cost them too much $. My low goal is $30, high is $50 and its' a struggle most days to make it. Glad I have the writing and niche sites to pay my bills - this is a nice extra
