I received a reply from one of the researchers I sent a message to about the 404 and they confirmed that Prolific servers are having some issues today.

Best practice seems to be collecting the completion code from the URL of the completion page and pasting it and also shooting the requester a message with the URL of the completion page just to be on the safe side.
