I wonder more and more often, how the hell do some mturk participants manage to instantly catch any hit that appears, and I have to struggle for hours to catch a damn 10 cents?
Doesn't it seem curious and worthy of discussion?
This is a hot topic, which I propose to discuss!

Have you heard of unfair competition?
An example is this: many times well-paid hits appear, which persist in my dashboard, although I click on it repeatedly, without being able to catch it, until the participant to whom it is intended accesses it!
Sometimes, by some miracle, I can also access it, but only for a fraction of a second, after which someone else grab it!

Another sensitive issue is the existence of the "master's" status, which creates a strong and unwanted discrimination between the participants in mturk studies. As long as there are no criteria for granting this status, and no one knows when and how this status is granted, this "master" mturk participant principle is deeply incorrect and disloyal. For example, I do not consider myself inferior to a "master mturk worker", and therefore I cannot accept the existence of this principle, and I think it was created to offer undeserved advantages to some.

i can walk out our door and be in the right spot. i want to go to the park that day and find the deer and take pics of their behavior during the event. i remember the last one, the partial one, all the birds and everything got very quiet as the darkness hit. or i may stay in bed with the covers over my head because during the last one, my son got his scout troop a NASA thing to follow the eclipse. but i think i have to face this one.

You probably are not on now but I agree @jenu, I was a consistent worker on here when I started years ago. I have always thought the Masters qualification was unfair because those of us who don't have it, can't seem to get it and those are good hits we are missing out on. Not sure what we can do about it though, unfortunately.

I'm super worried about the drive. Going up state should be fine - but coming back will be a bit of a mess (a lot of people all trying to drive home at the same time. I just googled about the weather (it might be cloudy monday), but it says:
If it's just an overcast or partly cloudy day, Reiff still recommends making the journey, since lighter clouds have a tendency to thin out as totality starts due to the way the sunlight is scattered. “It adds to the suspense,” says Reiff.

Here we're getting something like 96 percent (if I stayed home). So, not totality.

the sad thing i heard on columbus news this morning is that the hotels around indian lake where the tornados happened, are telling people who lost their homes that they have to vacate for the event. apparently that diner, a well known one but i can't think of it's name now, came in to assist in putting a stop to that. it's like come on people, have some feelings. find an airbnb or pitch a tent.

What does everyone use to catch Hits? I remember a long time ago there were different applications workers on here said they used but can't remember. I have recently only been using Mturk Suite/Hit Finder

Is there some way to flag or filter out HITs that don't allow mobile devices? I have an 11 inch tablet that's every bit as good as my power hungry laptop. I can't be turning that monster on for a 35 cent survey. Need a filter or designation for those jobs so I don't have to accept, then return, "mobiles not accepted". I don't want to "Accept" if I can't work them. Geez, this isn't 1990...let's get plugged into people who use mobile only.
