it takes some finagling, but one way tickets and stopping at layovers can save u a lot of money, finding a empty seat on a flight from, lets say I wanna go to denver and im in austin, I find a ticket from Austin to Seattle, that has a layover in denver, theres 1 seat left and its one way, so its cheaper than a ticket to denver, so I get that ticket, get off on the layover, and then get another one way to austin. It can take some work to find these deals, there used to be a website that aggregated all this stuff for you but they found some way to make it illegal to have someone else do the work and the site got shut down.
