How was the requester going to pay the new friends anyway?

I don't know how I'd set up a study like that. I'm not sure that mturk is the best platform for that. Off the top of my head, I think I'd set up the study to have a small sample and go through students. I'd also up the pay by a lot, to attract three or four friends to come in together.

I've seen something similar on mturk before, but it also used a generous compensation (over 10/ I think) - but that's just my memory from looking at the preview (I don't do HITS that involve my IRL friends or family.

But, for sure, this is a hard sample to capture if you want a high 'n.'
