So, does this theoretically mean someone could make hits for themselves for numbers and what not? I see nothing about it in the ToS but I'm not going to try it, either.

You can be both a worker and requester on the same account. I've never tried to do my own hits though so I can't comment on that.

Beyond if it's allowed or not, you'd be spending more than you'd be bringing in. You wouldn't recoup what you put in since amazon takes a hearty cut.

I asked Amazon at one point, and yes, you're allowed to do your own HITs. You could theoretically purchase numbers. It's just... you have to spend the money to do it, which is kind of counter productive.

It's not against Amazon's rules, but it's kinda... I dunno, skeezy, I guess. The number qualifications are used by requesters who are trying to find workers with a certain amount of experience. You're better off in the long run just using those first 5000 hits to learn your way around Mturk, figure out how to make crappy batches more profitable etc.

If you want to launder money it's much better to sell things on eBay at outrageous prices and then buy them yourself.

I tend to err on the side of not wanting to fuck with Amazon. Ever. I was a seller years ago and when I got a little too competitive with their pricing - they started making me fill out all these forms (like where it came from and blah blah blah. kinda hazy now bc it was so long ago.) And if I couldn't prove where it came from (I was just an individual selling my own shit, not a retailer so I didn't have proof on much things) then they'd suspend my seller's account. Then they did and ended up keeping the money I had sitting in that account. To the tune over over $1k.

As Lepi said, I think it's just counter productive. You're still better off making pennies than spending money to make pennies.

It's a thing that can be done... it's just not something most people bother with. The time spent doing your own HITs could be used just... doing HITs that pay money.

I just tried one. You are expected to make ten chat comments with an online partner. My partner disconnected after the first comment anyway. You are allowed to finish after that, but they still expect ten full sentences.
