I had a lot of technical issues with the appen platform that I didn't have on mturk. I honestly had no problem with load times on mturk.

The appen email I got said 18 AUD (14.00 usd) for 1000 individual voice records.

here is $25.00 for 500.

I don't know if everyone who did the appen ones got paid that amount, but its a huge drop for me.

ok I just remembered that on appen you dont have to play it back for every one, so its not as big as a drop off as I stated, but the technical issues really got to me...

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't catch the survey but I shall know for the future (and block them on HS)

I mean, they pay for their HITs quickly, but they typically promise large bonuses and don't pay them out. Plus, the pay is crap for the time spent. And they don't have any IRB or contact information other than through mTurk, so just shady in general.

wait does the microphone now let you know when you are recording? that was an issue for me because during the first 10 it would cutoff too much of the beginning

It looks the exact same, but heres the hell I went through...

First, it didnt work on my phone. I had to download chrome again, then it still didnt work. Then, I had to email them asking if I could use a computer. Then I started on my computer, and the files wouldn't load. So I had to switch to another microphone and they would load. Then, every... I'd say 30-40 recordings, the upload wouldn't go through and I'd have to tinker with my sound settings to figure out why. Then, my browser window crashed, and I stupidly didn't have a record of everything I did (my fault, I know, but at least mturk keeps a record of everything)
