I think you should see your payment posted now. I'm very, very sorry for what happened - I did not do it on purpose; it was an error.

I am very sympathetic to the plight of Turkers, which is why I insisted we pay $2.50 for my survey (because it is long) and not $1.00 (that others normally pay).

Thats a good way looking at it. I can trust some requesters as well. Just some of the requesters I am not familiar with give me the scares.
Any requester can go wonky, even formerly good ones. Especially if they are getting crap results, so it's a good thing to apply to everyone until your numbers are so high that you can't (w/out a lot of hard work) be screwed over. Some peoples best money is from unfamiliar requesters. Most of my rejections are from familiar ones that went wonky cause people scammed them so they went overboard in response.

I lost track of where I was going with this. Just use the worst case scenario script and pretend everyone is unknown and never do more than 1-2% of hits.

 I, too, was foolishly doing something else at the time. Stupid grocery shopping! I could have just eaten money from Work Skills First instead.

mass rejects are a lot more rare than we act like...

I mean, I've been on mturk for 2 years and I dont think I've ever had a "real" mass reject. Every time it happens they end up getting reversed due to a bunch of people complaining.

That Slee dude rejected 12 of my hits once... and I think thats the largest mass reject I ever had that didnt get reversed.

I say just keep an eye on T.O. to see who blocks/rejects and just do the hits you feel are good.

I found 2 pages that I need to theme properly because of this.
See, you keep me around for a reason.

The most I've had rejected at once was 3. And 2 of those were my fault. (He rejected the third just because I missed the first two which was annoying but I get it.) I /might/ have had a larger one at some point but they were all reversed by the time I found out so I never went and figured out how many I actually had rejected (I saw the rejection reasons later and didn't care since they were reversed.) There are handfuls of people that get real mass rejections every once in a while but like you said, it's pretty rare.
