I seem to remember Alton Brown and a few others consistently talked shit about kitchen unitaskers. If you can only use a tool for one very specific thing there's probably a better tool that'll do it and a lot of other stuff.

Not that you need a tool to soften butter, but this definitely counts as a shitty unitasker.
