I don't think it's really "customary" or not? It just that some people like sharing good news. Also, if I see a HIT that paid a really good bonus, I might take note so I can watch for that requester in case they post the HIT again.
I think I heard "Sorry, that pin code is incorrect" about 100 times today from pindrop. So annoying.

Adding that some people keep a detailed record of their bonuses owed, so if they see someone post one that they are still waiting for/never got, it gives them an indication that they might want to go
