Where I'm staying there are currently 4 cats, 2 dogs, some coons in the back, we have a chicken coop but we need to refurbish it; before putting chickens in it.

Honestly I wouldn't have killed the roach thing if it hadn't dive bombed me out of no where like it was going to kill me.

The big mean ones are tree roaches. They come in from the trees outside. Not much you can do about them and yeah they will dive bomb if they want. Pretty much harmless. Just nasty as hell. It's the little German ones that are the nasties. They get into your cupboards and food and run all over the place until you turn a light on.
When I first moved to TX, I nearly freaked out or actually I did, when I saw them all over the kitchen counter. First hubby was living in an area that suited him before he moved me down with him. We moved quickly from there as the area wasn't safe. It was ok for him as he is from Kurdistan if there was such a country. Actually the Kurdish part of Iran. The last thing he'd let stand in his was was a roach. But he understood i wasn't used to them nor the violence in the area so we left that area. But it didn't matter where i went. The upper crust in Memorial Oaks areas had them. They call them water bugs. I visited a friend one weekend who lives in a very nice area and took a pic of one of the big ones crawling across the bathroom floor. He had recently exterminated to it was dying. But I still thought it was funny. You actually get kind of used to them.
As far as chickens, make sure their home is safe from the raccoons as they like the suburbs. And are not afraid of people too much.

Yeah I've been here like two days and pretty much used to the critters running around. Once in awhile something will pop-out and startle me for a second.

Like earlier I turned and looked on my shoulder after the cat crawled all over me and there was a baby Tarantula.

Unfortunately it did not survive =(

What's got me agitated right now is I'm trying to get, the swelling, in my leg to go down because the first night I was here some fire ants thought they were bad asses.
