I went into my preferences to turn on live updates and I'm not sure I'm doing it right as it is not live updating. Any suggestions?

Is the live update checkbox checked in Thread Tools at top right of this thread?

It's really confusing and dumb, and we unfortunately have no way to change it, but there are 2 different things called Live Update. There's Live Update and Live Thread Update. The one in your preferences affects the notification that shows up on your browser tab when you get a forum alert. What you want is Live Thread Update, which can be turned on/off from Thread Tools, which is just above and to the right of this thread.
