Fine print - sounds fishy:

All participants will receive the compensation in a Visa gift card, reward points, or cash for your time at the end of your participation. Thereward pointsis compensation based upon the previous agreement participants made with Amazon Mechanical Turk.

I'm throwing mine back if anyone wants it.

5 alone is probably worth more than you would make at a min wage job tossin' beef full time (especially the last couple of days)

probably came off more harsh than I intended, tho. Effort in mTurk is rewarded much more than at minimum-wage level jobs, I guess, was my point.

Not fishy. It just means that you're going to get paid by Mturk. Which you already knew. It looks like they're using multiple avenues to recruit participants and the guy writing the fine print didn't understand the mechanics of Mturk.

Doesn't hurt me any. I just can't imagine putting myself through this to make a living. Yeah, it's more than possible, but there just isn't a constant source of income on a daily basis from this, i.e. one day I can make 20 and the next day 200. Not to mention that I feel I'd get burned out on this way faster if I truly depended on it. I have no reason to quit doing this as it is though, as its taking away the need for me to buy car parts and whatever else out of pocket.

edit: If I had masters, I might change my views slightly on the constant income source part.

regardless, if I'm going to put faith in something on mTurk, its gonna be in a giant corporation that has plenty of money allocated to this project (like Walmart)
