My wedding was low key and yet still paid for by my parents. Just saying, extravagant doesn't automatically mean paid for by mom and dad or visa versa. I think they spent about 3k total, but it wasn't my dream wedding.

Oh I know that... but that isn't my favorite type of wedding to shoot... and I don't discount the price when I know the parents are paying either (usually... unless I really like the couple or the parents)... the discount is usually a gift to a couple just getting started on their own two feet that they never know they got.

When we ran off to Vegas, I was stoked I didn't have to even think about planning anything. Husband keeps asking if I want to renew my vows and have a party, but I hate parties and would rather spend the money on pretty much anything else.

now the renewing vows thing is pretty great if you ask me, we had a blast and it was funner then the first, no pressure...etc.
