i keep getting paired with people in their 30s and under and it seems like the heroes they pick they have never played before, or played well.

hopefully it places me mostly of my skill, not just based on the overall team performance.

It takes your quick play mmr into account. So you are getting placed with people from your quick play mmr.

i don't feel confident when the other team is 50+ to even past the star tier and I'm the highest in my team

I played with similar differences. Just gotta carry harder. It does suck though but once you get placed its pretty well balanced.

Edit: For example my losses were just cause of defense coin flip which is awful and they already said they are changing. If it was stopwatch we would have won those games.

Pretend this is league of legends. Ranks are 1-100. 100 Is challenger. 95+ is master. 75ish-95 is diamond. 65-74 is plat. 45-64 is gold. 24-44 is silver. 1-23 is bronze.

Right now the highest ranked is 70s and a few of them are pros. 60's are closed beta/ex competitive players from other games. Most have gotten in around 50 or less. I got placed at 54.

Pretty much if this ranked system ends up like any other gaming ladder then 80% of the player based will be below 50 or wherever that cut off is(probably wont be higher than 60 IMO. Then the top 20% moves up from there.
