Well, there seem to be a lot of universities that post? Prolly have a US satellite campus I bet.

My point being, it's not a holiday for them.

Or an American colleague who can post the survey for them!

I think it will become more and more common as there are more and more research papers saying how MTurk is overused and there are so many "pro" survey takers.

Not on mturk's side, but some survey requesters are fussy about IP addresses.
