drum brakes...good lord, ive broken so many "brake spoons" in my life that its not even funny. not to mention frozen star wheel adjusters.....

I know that feel. Any time my friends would buy a used car that had drum brakes i'd just tell them to get new drums and kits when the brakes needed changing. That way i could lubricate those points and make sure anything isn't seized up when i help them install it. It makes changing the brakes a breeze in the future too

yup, pretty much this. im glad my car i just got is 4w disc (or so it says, i havent checked cause #lazy) and its a Ford so all i need is brake clean and some gloves and I can prolly bang all 4 out in 2 hours drinking some beer.

Same here. Actually, I've never done a drum brake before. My car is all disc, so that's no problem, but my mom got a 97 K1500 last year to haul shit with, and the rears are drum. We took it up to my uncle, who's a mechanic, for inspection, and it turns out it needs new shoes, so I'll have to order them, and bring the truck up to him so we can put them on. Just seems like a major pain in the ass to put it all together.

Drum brakes? Those have nearly killed me many times. Try driving a 3 ton truck down a snowy slope hoping, just HOPING, you aren't going to get hit with brake fading and die a painful death. Which reminds me, I need to do a front disc conversion on the mustang.

the service manuals do a decent job at explaining how to disassemble them as long as you can follow directions and aren't noodle brained Lots of guides on youtube too for more visual learners like I am. Its more of a pain than disc brakes though that's for sure.

All my cars have been 4w disc too. Once you go disc you never go back
