But this question, like MOST questions on mturk is not created for the survey we took. It's part of a subscale that someone else normed. I've posted about this before, but think of it this way: the most common psychometric scale is Becks Depression Inventory (it's used all over the place). That is under copyright and we never (just about) see that in one of these studies. Why? No researcher wants to pay for it.

Instead, we get stuff that was validated previously - is considered reliable - and is in the public domain. There are many scales like that, but when you look for something that will work in your particular study - well, the field gets mighty narrow.

But that's why we see the same scales/subscales in each study. They are using something out there that is free.
