I just followed the new twitter account for this forum. And it made me realize...I've never used twitter for any of my mturk activities.

I follow daily threads on forums, use Hit Scraper, Turk Master, Hit Monitor, etc. ... so it seems like constantly watching twitter would be a bit redundant. (I do see where following a particular requester might be helpful.)

Have I been missing out on a huge resource of information? Are there any twitter accounts that you find essential to follow? :)

***edited*** And I'm already posting things in the wrong area--sorry!

For day to day turking/increasing your earnings it won't help you a whole lot especially since you're already using everything else you listed. It could be a decent resource for keeping up with mturk/crowdsourcing/forum news though.

The purpose of the Twitter account for this site is mainly announcements and site updates. You probably aren't going to find many HITs that way. I follow Twitter pretty closely for MTurk-related topics and most of what comes up is people complaining about MTurk or news articles that mention a study that used MTurk workers. So I wouldn't say you're missing a huge resource of information, but it's interesting sometimes.

I used to run a bot on a few accounts that monitored the query "mechanical turk OR mturk" back in 2013-2014 for the sole purpose of autofaving tweets to increase odds of return engagement. (The results are no where near as rich as today, which is a testament to mturk's steady shift to mainstream acceptance over the years.)

The good that came out of the monitoring was I was able to meet and connect with a lot of people (including researchers like Lilly, the co-founder of to) who were into mturk yet it was such a new frontier that continuous, daily Twitter discussion on the matter was nearly non-existent! The fact that the media, researchers, techies, requesters and workers alike now tweet about it like it's a normal thing to do really amazes me (but then again the original allure of it being an underground platform was what drove the interest initially, so this perception of it has and is being perpetuated, until it either becomes "too" mainstream or enough competitors achieve critical mass that it will no longer be a warm topic)
