PSA: don't get the new Ally cashback credit card. I got and activated it like two weeks ago and was going to make a major purchase today to meet the "spend $500 in first 3 months, get $100" offer. Card was declined twice at point of sale. No idea why, no transactions on card, full credit limit available. I call customer service, they say I never activated the card. Wrong, because I got a confirmation that the card was activated and set a PIN. CSR had no remedy and had no idea why the card was not fully activated. So I had to put the huge transaction (car repair) on a different credit card and they lost me as a customer. I cancelled the card because that type of customer service is worthless to me.
