I just wondered if it was an S5 if they'd rather get the money up front bc who wants to get an S5 anymore? Why would they want to have someone get it and make teeny, tiny payments on it each month when they could just go ahead and sell it?

depends on the company, but they'll usually work with you. S5 is new enough that its most likely covered under some sort of plan. They know how to make money.
