Would it be worth it getting the free version? Would I be able to play with you in game at all or no since you're non-noob?

I actually don't know a lot about the starter edition

With starter edition you can play for as long as you want for free, but you have multiple restrictions.

- You can't level any one character past level 20 (current max is 100, to be 110 when the next expansion releases soon)
- You can not use the auction house
- You can not trade or send any mail
- You can not whisper anyone until either they whisper you first or a paid player has you on their friend's list.
- The maximum amount of gold you can carry is 10g
- You cannot level any profession beyond 100

Note: You can party with anyone and chat/play with them. Remember first that for you to be able to whisper (talk to) anyone they must whisper you first or have your character name on their friend's list. Also anything you say in /s (chat that can be seen by close by players) cannot be seen by anyone.

Needless to say, since there's no time limit like 7 days or something, you can get a good taste for each class and try it for as long as you wish.
