Digital crowdworkers don’t only do menial tasks like data entry. They’re smart, capable, and hungrier than any algorithm. And they work for cheap.

Unlike Uber drivers or many TaskRabbit laborers, who usually have to be physically present wherever they are needed, digital workers can earn money from coffee shops or kitchen tables anywhere in the world. And unlike the design, writing and coding professionals you can find on platforms like Upwork or Elance, most crowdworkers need no particular skills or training. Robert Reich, Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, calls these workers “fungible, sought only for their reliability and low cost.” Tech workers sometimes use a more visceral term: meatware.

More machines doing better job are less work for us, but this is less job for "normal workers" (officinist and...) too.

I'd actually like to point out that technically this is what mechanization has been doing for decades now. People think that automation took jobs away from humans but what it actually did was move skilled labor to less skilled people.

Interestingly a guy I know wrote a research paper on this and one of the ways to prevent adoption of automation technologies was to raise the minimum wage. Seems kind of odd and counter to how most people thought it worked but there you go.

Yea, this is a good thing. Breaking down work is not bad it is just progress. This will help to battle the huge H-1B visa issue in the tech area of the united states, has to be cheaper to break down the work & make it public then move someone in from a another country.
