I don't think I would be able to tell the difference between them being dead and just waiting to get a hit in my queue. I've waited up to 5 minutes with nothing in my queue more than once this morning. Sadly it's too late for me to go back to sleep now since my alarm to get up for my contract work today would go off in about 20 minutes anyway.
