I feel it's because it's light on the pizza. It's not a heavy flavor compared to anything with meat with the exception of ham.

That's true. I do like meat options on pizzas but it always makes the pizza greasier imo. I love putting veggies and fruit on pizza. Makes me feel like I picked a semi-"healthy" choice.

I've had pizza with mandarin oranges on it. They added a nice flavor to the pizza, but they don't hold up well in the oven at all. The texture kinda turns to mush.
