Just tried that but no luck either. I'm stumped. I can hear sound if I play a video and I can hear myself when I run Speech Recognition but the HIT itself just doesn't attempt to prompt/pick up any device.

have you declined the permissions for your browser to record you?

i've never had trouble with their hits on chrome

No, I have not. I even tested it at https://www.onlinemictest.com/ and it prompted me and worked. It just is not doing so for their HIT.

No luck there on my phone or tablet using Firefox and Puffin browsers. >.<
I sent the requester a message to see if they are having any problems right now. Sad that I cannot do this HIT since they are highly regarded too.
