The only smear campaigns (hahaha puns) my kiddos did was that #1 got up early, was trying to "help" with #2... #1 was three and #2 was like 6-ish months old...

Decided to take the (nicely baby-powder scented...) Vaseline, and put it on him.

From head....to....toes... and ALLLLLLLLLLLL over the crib.

That shit doesn't wash off easily.
