well I work customer service in a grocery store right now, and although people can still be rude, in fast food, damn near everyone is rude because everyone wants their food before they finish ordering it. At least at a grocery store, people are more lenient because they kind of expect to spend some time there.
I never understood the whole being rude to people who make minimum wage thing. I treat everybody I interact with like gold because I remember doing that crap and how much I wanted to throw punches at all the people trying to rip off the businesses with BS complaints all the time.

***THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MTURK***
But i figure if anyone knows about them it would be the fine folks at this forum.

Has anyone here ever worked for Appen? As a Social Media Evaluator? I got invited to work for them. $13.75 an hour. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them and what the work is like?
Edited: Didn't see thread for it.

i never had an issue with fast food places here. My worst experience was in a fancy-ish restaurant with some friends (like the cheesecake factory, but not that place). I think i only gave him a tip that rounded up to the nearest dollar, which was like 3 cents or something. dude fucked up our table in so many ways and it wasn't even busy. I ordered a rib eye and he just gave me a knife, no fork. Never came to refill our drinks. When we were done, it took about 30 minutes until we had to get another person to get our dishes.

i dont treat people rudely, fast food or otherwise. in fast food places i don't take my time when i'm up at the register because that's annoying as fuck to me. Like know what you want to order before you get in line. I( also say thank you when they give me the food.

Unfortunately, people judge other people based on how much money they make. I wish more people were like you, but when a lot of people see someone in a position that pays 7-10 dollars an hour, they treat them like shit.

I got in trouble once because a customer wanted to return a cake that was half eaten because they had "less guests than expected". I was like "are you serious" they got offended, bitched and got all the money back. People are real special sometimes.

Unfortunately, we live in a culture that uses wealth as a measurement of worth.

It's also a power thing, customer service people are one of the people we have "power" over in day-to-day life, and for some people that means making sure the customer service person knows that by treating them like shit.
