My gf did mermaid hair about a year ago... it looked pretty good but it was really pushing the boundaries of what she could get away with at work. Now she's got a peekaboo "peacock" dye job. It looks really good too... if she combs it one way it just looks like the tips are colored but when she parts it the other way most of her hair is in shades of teal, blue, green, and purple.

It looks really good too... if she combs it one way it just looks like the tips are colored but when she parts it the other way most of her hair is in shades of teal, green, and purple.

Back in my more expressive days I had a pretty big mohawk. Half of my head was dyed black, and the other blonde. When I did my hair up I made sure it was perfectly even so the colors didn't show on the other side. I may have to do something fun like that again.
