I can never sleep on 9/11. Both of my parents had died and I moved to Hoboken that year. I saw it all happen, and many of my neighbors worked at Cantor Fitzgerald.

I was actually in the forest with my best girlfriend for about five days prior to the real 9/11. We walked out of the Red River Gorge with nothing left to say to each other, cause you know we had been alone together for five days. So we got into my little hatchback and headed toward the interstate. We had no idea what had happened to the world (we were listening to a cassette of jamiroquia while we were driving) until we hit up a Cracker Barrel and bought a newspaper and sat down to eat scrambled eggs. We both smelled strongly of wood smoke and were sort of hating each other and then there came the realization that we were the lucky people.
