I had this big thing typed out about how useless a chromebook is and how it would eventually limit your options if you ever decided to learn how to take turking seriously. But honestly man... it's your earnings and your hardware. If you wanna sit on the couch with a lap sized phone and turk, I'm cool with that, none of my business. I don't have any decent advice within the limits of the question. Hopefully someone will have something good for you and you can find a way to make the couch ergonomically workable.

I have linux installed on mine, the only limits so far is inquisit (though i use vnc if home to do it through pc...i hate sitting at a desk, (finally found I had actual health reasons for this)), and stickys. I can't use my crappy ahk scripts but there is an autokey app for linux I'll someday learn, anyway thought I'd throw in my 2 cents....am saving up for super-laptop for someday, as i do agree it's preferable if possible. For the $150 I spent, I was thinking it would be less slow than using a laptop at this price. Oh...and what the heck is that service,i forgot the name, freedom or something? Basically it's a windows interface on your chromebook through a paid service, like $15 a month. For 'super' portability reasons this would be nice i suppose, esp if it got rid of the few limitations I mentioned running into.
