I just requested the [09.23.2016] DC Experiment qualification, but I notice unless these quals auto approve, they usually don't grant them. Is there a reason for that?

This particular qual I think was from a hit they posted earlier - you won't get it by requesting it.

You'll learn eventually that nothing on Mturk is straightforward.
This is one example.

If there are qual HITs up for something it'll usually say in the title.....additionally if you're here on the forum it'll probably be the only thing we'll be talking about.

It's just how Amazon designed quals to appear. It's not the requester's doing.

What everyone else said + accept first and return later is (usually) a good rule of thumb.
