I LOVE pumpkin spice even though it doesn't always include pumpkin. I've been using pumpkin puree as a secret ingredient for many years b/c it's an easy way to boost the nutrients in any dish. Pumpkin pie spice is a fragrant, warming spice perfect for winter. But I loathe the pumpkin spice trend b/c it's harnessed pumpkin spice hate and spawned so, so many gross foods. (I hated the M&Ms, but people loved 'em on Thanksgiving when there were plenty of great foods available.) Still, I might be receptive to pumpkin spice throat lozenge.

I just hate the way companies jump on anything "trendy" and overdo it until everyone is sick of it and it's no fun anymore. Pumpkin and pumpkin spice have their places, and I like both of them. I just think it's become way overdone by companies trying to get their hands into everyone's pockets during the holidays. It's like making everything Disney Princess or Star Wars themed, even when there is no reason for the items to have any connection to either of those. ("Star Wars Hemorrhoid Cream!" "Disney Princess Pimple Poppers!")
