I default to siding with the requesters in almost all cases if they're paying well, because we've seen the trash people submit every time we review work.
so why don't we see more requesters moving into closed qual/10k+ 99% quals? do we? are they all closed already?

(serious question)

People who pay enough to make kryss @kryssyy consider working on their tasks are almost never the ones doing shady shit. Every horror story on here is from some low paying garbage tier requester that desperate people are working for (not a criticism, most of us have been there). Every high paying one-off batch that people are like "scared money oh no what if they reject" always approves.

Specific to this, communication adds a lot to the cost of the work for the requester. Their time is valuable, and probably more valuable than ours, because they're paying us, not the other way around. A decent paying requester that blocks you probably had a reason and explaining it is probably not worth the time when there's more workers out there doing the tasks the way they want. I'd prefer they didn't block, but like I said, it's one block, who gives a fuck.

I've suggested this to a lot of workers and they usually respond with "We want the work done quickly".
doesn't this follow:

10K+ 99% is (next to a closed qual) the best quality work you can get (assumption)

work with this qual will take longer to do

however, work with the qual will be done at 95% accuracy (much less time reposting bad work)

or

Put only a US qual.

work with this qual is done immediately.

work is done at 70% accuracy.

spend time reposting incorrect work, issuing blocks/rejections that could hurt TO and prevent good workers from working for me

Related to this, electrolyte @electrolyte do you have some sense of how many workers there are in total on mturk vs. how many use this forum?
I can dig for the actual citations later if I remember, but off the top of my head, I think stuff has said lately that there are 20k-ish workers and something like 15% are aware of worker forums in general? That's "aware of" worker forums, not actually active users, so the active user percentage is smaller than 15%, and of course not all of those are MTC users since it asked about forums in general. Also, the 20k figure comes from surveys so workers who do exclusively batches wouldn't have been counted in that.
