True, but if you're one of those people that were "allowed" to make a new account, after having their original one shut down for scamming too many requesters, I'm sure you could get back to 10k+ pretty quick.

I think that's pretty good, though. It probably took me 6 months to hit the 3k mark. But it also took me about 6 months to find an mturk forum, so I was really clueless.
I'm right at 8k at around 1.5 months...I also work 2-3 days a week...but wake up early 4:30ish to get some turking in

There's also alot of cases where i'll see a bombed to and dozens of people complaining that they did not miss an attention check! No they did not! they are gonna contact the school. Gonna get the requester in trouble. Meanwhile my hit approves cause the attention check was kinda obvious but if you were lazy and scamming, you would miss it. I cant imagine the requester side of things at all. Must suck.

It was completely different for me. I think Taste of the World was a really big thing that had just started going on when I started turking. I found a forum for it pretty early. If I remember correctly, at the time Taste wasn't yet closed qual but their work required 10k I think. So I hammed out hard on everything that came through after my 10 day probation. I think it took me a little less or around one month to hit 10k. Wasn't all that long later they went closed qual.
