It was completely different for me. I think Taste of the World was a really big thing that had just started going on when I started turking. I found a forum for it pretty early. If I remember correctly, at the time Taste wasn't yet closed qual but their work required 10k I think. So I hammed out hard on everything that came through after my 10 day probation. I think it took me a little less or around one month to hit 10k. Wasn't all that long later they went closed qual.

Yeah, I missed out on TOTW just because of how long it took me to find mturk forums. I started in February 2013, but didn't find MTF until like July, right when that was all in full swing. It was really fun watching all of that money being made, from the sidelines.

@Princess Gina Marie Got an update about the roc nlp thing. I emailed a few of the faculty at u of rochester's nlp lab. Got no response from them, but magically got this email after no communication for about a week.

"Sorry I couldn't answer you soon enough. Yes you can send your edited stories to me. So if you have five rejected stories, you can send five new stories back. I will update your status afterwards. "

Guess they want free work. I already sent him some revised stories about 4 days ago, but he didn't overturn any rejections then. In fact I keep getting more and more rejections slowly trickling in.

Not kidding, the last time I trick o treated I gave all of my candy to my best friend. I don't eat much candy.

I definitely get what you're saying, but if I am working for a requester (repeatedly), I like having that confidence that I'm not going to be blocked. If I make a mistake I rather it be rejected. If I make a mistake and they don't want me to work on their HITs, say so in the rejection message and I won't touch them again.



Edit - just to add, I do think you deserve the block if you're scamming and I think it's fairly obvious if a worker just made a mistake vs scamming.
