This, for real. I've seen far too many requesters up and leave because they were getting shitty data or were being scammed. I've even seen exploits for HITs posted on Turkopticon

This makes me think of Visual Genome and how horrible most of the data was that had to be dealt with in the $1.60 hits. Aside from how the batches they posted after they quit with those usually weren't worth it, I'm not surprised they aren't still around. A little sad because they were one of the first requesters I regularly worked on, but not surprised.

This is one of the reasons why I have been reining in a lot of my scripts that help with batches/actual work. If you really want to see how bad the work that gets submitted is, make some random batch that is easy to complete and hard to mess up. Its astonishing how poor some of the results are. People complain about closed quals, attention checks, majority rules, etc... but requesters have to do something to protect themselves.

I chose to not work on their HITs for that reason. I think it's unfortunate there are so many workers that provide bad data. Makes it harder on the rest of us.

People were flat out scamming these. Submitting them without entering anything, repeating the same answers for everything, randomly filling stuff in, you name it. I wouldn't be surprised if over half of their data was just tossed out because they let it go unchecked for so long.
