Most of the various "features" they've listed are things that individual userscripts already do (goal setting, alerts, work history, etc.). I guess if you wanted one single extension to do all of that rather than use individual userscripts, that might be an upside for some people? That's about all I can come up with.So they want to harvest my data AND cause me more PRE's? I'm not seeing the upside.
Depends on how you define "dangerous". It says "All information collected is anonymized and only provided in aggregate form to academic researchers who work with the creators of the extension." So if you're concerned about unnamed academic researchers and the extension creators having access to your stuff, then you might consider it dangerous. So it's dangerous for me to use it then?
alot of the stuff we use could be considered dangerous. it's really not that hard for people to pry into your information. one little cookie, spyware, etc etc and your info is stolen and your browsing habits are known. Ever notice how you see ads for stuff you've google searched? Or how your computer knows the town you live in.. etc etc. It's a losing battle most of the times. Still can be safe.So it's dangerous for me to use it then?
You can turn off ad preferences and location settings in Google.Ever notice how you see ads for stuff you've google searched? Or how your computer knows the town you live in.. etc etc. It's a losing battle most of the times..
I also use UBlock Origin. It takes care of a bunch of ads.You can turn off ad preferences and location settings in Google.
Even better! For those who don't block ads, here's how to set your preferences and opt out of "personalized" ads: http://www.google.com/settings/adsI also use UBlock Origin. It takes care of a bunch of ads.
