Rep Present Enky - Paragraph Sorting HIT Discussion

I'm the main developer behind the company Enky and we've begun utilizing Mechanical Turk for our data sorting. We're currently preparing to roll out a huge batch of HITs worth several grand tomorrow night for people who complete the qual we have up. Any updates will be posted here, and please direct any feedback you may have in here as well.

If you are having issues with the qual displaying, please check your browser. The instructions are loaded externally in case we have to modify them (we've already had to republish the qual twice due to feedback given). If you see a period where data should be, something is wrong with your browser or I am updating the instructions at that exact moment, so wait a few minutes and refresh.

If you failed the attention check or returned the HIT, you also have a second chance - grab the HIT labeled "SECOND TRY" which was put up after someone mentioned having browser issues and returning the HIT.

All qual submissions that pass the attention check will be accepted, but this does NOT mean you will be eligible for the main batch. You will receive an email within 24 - 48 hours letting you know you were qual'd, if you qualified.

The main batch will go live Wednesday night EST or Thursday morning EST. I will update here when that happens.

Once you get going with the main batch, the small HITs should take no longer than a few seconds a pop, and we included an auto-fill button at the bottom to fill empty boxes with "NO". The longest ones should take no longer than a minute or two. The main batch will also include a floating paragraph so you do not have to scroll back up to review the paragraph like you do in the qual. Feel free to fill out as many as you want. The more, the better.

This is one of two quals that are up. The first one is still active and valid, the expired one is the one from yesterday that was taken down due to feedback. Either this one or the other one can be completed to be eligible for the main batch.

Quals have gone out to 21 people who have completed the HIT yesterday (out of about 50 total). Today's qual HIT is still under review.

Also , I read that you have rejected a qualf HIT because of attention check. It would be preferable that you rather not pay and not give the qualification. A rejection for a penny HIT ruins your day.

Qual will be open to Canadians in the morning, which is also when the HITs will go live (before noon EST).

I accepted all the qual HITs, including reversing four rejections.

If a requester rejects a HIT, the worker is not paid. If the requester approves the HIT, the worker is paid. There isn't a "no pay" option that isn't a rejection.

The requester could approve the HIT, which pays the worker, but then simply not grant the qualification if the work wasn't what the requester was wanting.

Pushed through 50 more qualifications. Should now have 70 workers eligible to grab the HITs that are up!

If it requires 20 hours of each (or it infers it) then you add an AND, yes.

Processed the latest batch of quals. The qualification rate currently stands at 51.5%.

The qual actual HITs should be auto-approved in the next 24 hours. The next and final round of qual HITs will simply be set to autoapprove within 24 hours.

Monday I will be reviewing all the main batch HITs and most short ones should be approved then.

The first short batch is 75% done and the first long batch is 35% done. Interestingly, not a single submission for the medium batch. Any feedback for us regarding pricing, difficulty, the qual, or just about anything else?

These first batches are just 6% of the work we have to put up on MTurk and once we get enough workers we will be posting bigger batches at a time. I will be going through and approving the work today. The 10% bonus will be awarded either in the next 48 hours or whenever the batch is completed and approved (whichever comes first).

No mediums? I did 10 yesterday and 1 or 2 earlier. I found one medium that was quite long and was probably underpaid even as a long, which I returned. It was 10 or more lines deep with much detail.

One clarification, please ... I found several shorts which had no information at all. I filled all items with NO and submitted. Is this response correct?

I did 75 or so HITs, and decided to wait until approvals, in order to protect my HIT approval rating. Will you reject errors or approve and remove qualifications?
