Amazon's ToS states that money given as bonuses is not retractable. I forgot where, but its in there.

It's technically not retractable, in that there's not an "undo" button or anything on the requester's side. But I've never read anything about it in the TOS.

After you have approved the applicable Services, you are not entitled to any refund of your payment for such Services

Ahh, that sounds more like it's saying that after you approve a HIT and the worker gets paid, you can't get ask for refund then at that point.

I would personally offer the requester to do some other hits to compensate for the money. That way maybe the requester wouldn't hate me or Mturk and will stay with us longer.

ETH's been posting since at least 2011. I don't think they're going anywhere! But worst case, they could block a worker they had an issue with.

I think working on MTurk and seeing all of these different experiments makes you a little paranoid.
Whenever I am walking by a train track, I always look for a fat person.

Morning everyone! Loved my big unexpected bonus but also won't be keeping it if they ask for it back. Everyone is entitled to the way they deal with something like this. My life experience has taught me it is better to just return it if asked since it may be someones job on the line for this error, like cashiers have at stores or Dear sweet Karma always finds away to kick me in the Ass when I don't. That is just my life experience.

something like that might have happened to me at work.
a few months ago, I received a bonus check
when the manager handed it to me, I asked what it was,
to which he replied that it's retroactive pay for the raise that I should have received two months prior
doing some quick math, a $0.50 raise for ~43 hours (so about 45 hours due to overtime) for 8 weeks..
take out taxes..
I expected about $140.
it was over $400
I handed it back and said something was wrong with it
fast forward to two weeks ago.
I received a public award for my integrity
People spent the entire day calling me an idiot
but the thing is, i received three raises this year so far
next time I get a raise, they'll look at my rate and wonder how long I knew something was off
