That's what we do. Large plastic tub full of Disney Princess Barbies and their clothes. We just make sure she keeps the lid on it for the baby.

I used ideas from minimalist living for both my daughters and now grand daughter. You don't necessarily have to get rid of things although I did tell my children after Thanksgiving every year that Santa likes to give to children with less and that donate to the needy so that gave me an opportunity to get rid of things and also teach them to share.
