And then they'll wonder why they are getting shit quality work.

And then they'll just leave Mturk.

It's the circle of life Mturk
I watched some videos yesterday (I linked to them here) from Amazon-affiliated companies at an Amazon conference that talked a lot about how to set up MTurk HITs and how to use it. They all basically said that the way to price HITs is to figure out how fast you need it done. If you don't need it done particularly fast, pay low. If you need it done quickly, pay more. They said over and over (and I've seen this in academic papers, too, which drives me nuts) that a difference in pay amounts doesn't relate THAT much to quality. It does a little, but not a lot. So they said to mostly focus on how urgent the work is to get done and set pay balanced on that.

:banghead:

(Only one speaker actually said to treat workers fairly, as humans, and know that some of them are doing this work for a living and you should respect that.)

What did you do instead? just curious.
:D

And that is the thing, while it was worth it to some at 4c and not at 3c, it is still worth it at 3c to some. They wouldn't be worth it to me until about 8c, so I could say that everyone doing them at 4c is an issue cause they could increase the pay if they sat.

But there are people who absolutely must turk and will take any/all work because they need to scrape as much as they can together to make their ends meet. Sadly, it's a demographic that's easily exploitable.

Are these meetings set up at night so that the vampires attending won't be affected by sunlight, or do they just keep the conference room very dark?

I saw one article once by a requester who did work as a turker for a little bit, I guess just to see that side of things, and it completely changed how he posted hits and saw the workers. Though I'm sure it is as eye-opening the other way around also, too bad it wasn't a requirement.

Which is what I said, there is always someone that a HIT will be worth it to work on it. It ties into what electrolyte @electrolyte mentioned in her post. If you can afford to wait, you can pay like shit because someone will always work on the HITs.

It looked light to me. :p

It was from the AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas in November.

:help: Is there a way to change your browser settings so that when you click on a link it will automatically open in a new page? (So I don't have to keep doing right click and select "open in new page")... or a script??? or something???

EDIT: I know the keyboard shortcut of pressing CTRL + clicking... I'm looking for something where I don't have to use my keyboard. Hoping to go one handed with my mouse.
