It's hard to say on our end. Sure, it's going down because some people are doing them. But if the requester wants it done faster, they'll need to increase the pay. They could be totally fine with getting slower results, or maybe they'll prefer the faster results like they had yesterday and go back to that.

Yea when they were .40 the pay rate was basically the same as a good Geohive batch.

Also, I said earlier that the videos from Amazon about Mechanical Turk talked about pricing vs. speed. They also mentioned a few times that workers have forums and if you want to know if your HIT pays too low or is too confusing, you should go read worker forums and see what workers are saying about it. So keep talking about low paying HITs and the fact that we aren't doing them because they pay too low. Requesters are reading.

I've kind of had that in the back of my mind at times. (Pinterest for instance, like when they suddenly changed format several times after we posted about having some scripts up) So after I said something negative about the recent temp. bans without answering msgs (prob overwhemled with them), I wondered if I should have said that...but then thought if I really felt it was justified, and not just calling them names or something, and where they won't respond to me directly, then why the heck not??? lol

Anyway yeah, I'd be if I were them. (reading what workers are saying.). Also, not the point, but it took a min to occur to me it's not like my username here is tied with my ID that I can think of, and they are (or even could) to ban me for having an opinion.

Not to rain on the protest parade they are still being done fast enough that they are throttled.there is 71 people in this thread right now if everyone is not doing them that is only a small % of the people turking right now.
I'm not saying do them cause let's be honest the pay sucked at 4c them to lower it to 3 is even worse but there are still people gonna ham them, fuck dip shits do free batches cause "I need the numbers"

Obv the real lesson is that you should just start out paying a mediocre wage and never change. That will make you a beloved requester, whereas starting out with good wages and downgrading to mediocre wages later is scandalous.

other tips to increase your workflow:
workers will rate you highly for immediate approvals regardless of pay
workers are suckers for rewards for doing multiple hits in a batch, rather than just making each hit pay higher
if you give out a small bonus to the worker, it makes them feel like they got paid extra money and will rate you higher

Yep, they are getting done. But protests have worked in the past, so...it can't hurt. Maybe they're getting icky quality now?

Reminds me of Mapping Africa. Everyone loved those because of all the bonuses (myself included) but overall the pay rate was horrid.

I just love the 'congratulations' that comes along with quals for not being able to do something. I got one yesterday b/c of something I apparently was doing wrong in some hits, though I still don't know what it was, I was really sad. The congrats was a nice additional slap in the face.
