You guys think it's okay to give cash as gifts instead of actual presents?
Similar to lsutiger25 @lsutiger25 and lil queen trashmouth @lil queen trashmouth, I prefer when someone gives me cash or gift cards unless the present is something that was personally made. Overall, I think any present that comes with good intentions is acceptable

As some have mentioned, it depends on the person/customs. Generally, it is well-received, as it allows someone to spend it on a need rather than a want, without the embarrassment of having to admit that they're out of basic necessities like deodorant, TP, cleaners, etc. (I speak from experience on that bit.) Also, you can make it extra-festive by folding it into cool origami shapes! There are tons of ideas (even ezpz beginner origami shapes) online. I made my friend a card and folded the bills into stars, and it made it a little extra special.

Two years ago for the holiday, I made my 12 year old nephew a "money pizza." Dollar bills spread around in a circle lightly taped inside a new, medium sized pizza box and various coins for "toppings". It was about $25 worth. To this day, it's still intact. He says it's the coolest thing ever and doesn't want to spend it.

Curious if anyone pays bills with Swagbucks. I don't take it seriously and only get a PP card twice a year if that.

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. I just wanted to mention that this is just going to be for family. Normally we use a website where everyone can create a wish list and we just pick something off of that site and be done with it but I guess everyone was lazy this year and nobody has posted anything. I'd find it difficult to shop in-store for something because I work 15-16 hours a day and I'm afraid that anything I purchase online might not arrive in time which is why I'm considering just giving cash.

Haha, that's actually pretty awesome and I bet it looked really neat! Seems like it led to him learning about saving money instead, which is a bonus as well.

A gift card might be better than cash, they can still pick what they want but are less likely to feel inclined to spend it on something not fun like bills.

I've gotten 2 rejections so far on CMU RE Lab's "Identify data actions in paragraphs" batch for missing a word in the paragraph. So, be extra careful if you're doing those not to miss anything at all.

He reversed them *edit*

Make that NINE, everyone needs to back off the Identify data actions in paragraphs, there is no way I messed those up the way they said I did. I took my time, they rejected at least 30-40% of them

I don't know wtf just happened but as I was walking my dog I found a $5 bill right on the sidewalk. Then 15 minutes later, while walking in a completely different place, I found $3 in singles. Like, what are chances?

I felt like I was in some study scenario where later I get asked if I want to return the money.
