Usually the "old ones" are the first to go. For a few reasons. One is they usually earn more than they would pay a fresh hire, second new people are easier to change and mold to how they want them.

You'll be ok. Just breathe. I got a cancer diagnosis and a pink slip within 2 weeks of each other... felt like the world was shattering and falling down all around me for what felt like a long time. But that's living... might be comfortable for a while, or it might be seat of your pants, might be full of passion or a long hill to climb... but it's all part of your legend. Just breathe and wake up every morning like you fully intended to. Everything else works itself out as you do that.
